Ellis Island Experience
Each year fifth graders at TBE Hebrew School and Bet Ha'am study American
Jewish history. For the past several years a major joint project has been
in-depth research into family immigration history, culminating in a
reenactment of arrival and processing at Ellis Island. The project involved
months of research and preparation by the students and their families, and
parents volunteer to take the parts of immigration officials, physicians,
examiners, etc. on the day of the simulation. It is a wonderful learning
experience for all involved!
