General Fund Year-End Report
by Linda Jacobs, Treasurer
Although we had budgeted a slight deficit for the year, the good news is that we ended the year with a slight surplus. This is due to many factors, and I will highlight the major ones:
- 1. Several areas of revenue were ahead of projections, namely, billings for the use of the social hall, Shofar revenue, contributions, and revenue from Levey Day School. We also received a very generous testamentary gift of $10,000. These items totaled a positive $20,000.
- 2. Several areas of revenue came in under our budgeted amounts. These items were dues, fundraising , and appeal. These items totaled a negative $15,000.
- 3. In the maintenance area, knowing we were ahead on revenue, we spent additional money for some much needed building repairs.
- 4. Payroll was in line with budget, and other expenses were under our budgeted amounts.
Overall, the year ended on a positive note, with, as I mentioned, a slight surplus rather than a slight deficit.
